Can someone clarify this once and for all

I just upgraded from 2MB to 10MB over the phone.

The 1st guy said it takes 3-5 days
The 2nd Girl says it takes 24hrs
The 3rd guy says it takes 1 week

I always thought it was instant? When I upgraded online by accident it was instant. All it does it assign a high tier docsis file to my modem right?

I have a feeling they are muggin me off. My modem did reboot itself twice, but still on 2MB.

Cheers

Hong

Re: Can someone clarify this once and for all

normally it should be instantly, at least with me it was.

check your modem config and also your bill.

if you have a normal modem the page is http://192.168.100.1 user and password are root

this is what you should see on a NTL:250 (blue modem)

Network Access : Allowed Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000 Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000

Rone, sometimes you have to reboot your modem first, and do it as soon as it boots back up

Re: Can someone clarify this once and for all

If you upgrade online it will happen immeadiately,if you have been offered any kind of special offer with the upgrade,ie:free first month etc then this can take longer to process because of the billing and credit set up required.

Re: Can someone clarify this once and for all

Well if it takes longer due to it being an offer, then I guess I dont mind waiting, after all I am getting a month free.

If I were paying for it I would hav just done it online anyway, its quicker and less stressfull!
