NTL VS2000 No dial tone...Help!

Hi folks,

Hoping for a bit of help with the NTL VS 2000...
After charging the phones for the recommended 14 hours I tried to connect it to the phone-line but there was no dial-up tone. I've registered the two hand-sets to the base units but still no joy. Sometimes if I switch on and off the power I'd get an engaged sound. The two phones relay to each other OK but not to any other phone...
Hopefully there's a straight forward sollution. Many thanks in advance.

Have you double checked the cables are connected correctly? Also do you get a dial tone if you plug a different phone into the socket?

Paul

Yup - All the cables were checked and an old phone works on the same line. I've even used another cable, but without any joy. I'm just hoping there's not a problem with the base unit...

Thanks for the reply.

Re: NTL VS2000 No dial tone...Help!

Well as long as the phone is set to the correct tone/ pulse setting and you are sure the phone is fully charged/ switched on/ connected correctly then it would point to a faulty base.
I would get the manual back out and go back through it all from scratch just in case something was missed. If everything else checks out then it could well be a faulty base unit on the phone.

Re: NTL VS2000 No dial tone...Help!

Cheers for that. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that but I guess it's looking like a faulty unit!
Many thanks for the pointers. If there's any joy i'll post the developments incase anyone else is in the same boat...

Re: [merged] Ntl Vs2000

I also own a twin handset VS2000 series phone - it has worked well but recently the answerphone keeps thinking it is full when it is not and it seems impossible to reset it even when all messages have been deleted. Has anybody else experienced this? Does anybody know how to resolve it? Currently if I leave the answerphone on it simply plays the 'Full' message - so at present I've had to turn it off but I really need it working - any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
