email NTl to BT

hi

having finally got Bt to sort my connnection i was happy in the knowledge i'd configured Outlook to receive my NTL email using Bt's smtp i.e including my bt login settings to the ntl account.

But today after bout middayish and normal email acitivity i'm now having problems. I seem unable to pick up my ntl mail either thru my client or the webmail.

Now i assure you nothing has changed, and whats more disturbing is that no one else has posted that there is a problem with email in general. I know from experience that we all post if there's a slightest down of the email system. Strangely the NTl server status page times out.

any suggestions or info i've missed greatly received, i mean i'm not being paranoid here am i. Just beacause i'm no longer an NTL customer doesn't surely mean my email is stopped. Now that i think of it the account was to close on the 10th.

Re: email NTl to BT

Surely if you are no longer a customer, then you no longer have an NTL email address

Re: email NTl to BT

i don't know, i suppose its a reasonable extension of logic but i don't ACTUALLY know if its true. I mean i don't know of anyone its happened to and surely the ability to use Bt's servers to access my mail would suggest that its not necessarily true.

Maybe i'm being obtuse here but i would appreciate some clarification from someone.

Just to comfirm this as i think i am miss reading what you said.

You no longer have a account with NTL. And you now want to know why you cannot use your old NTL Email account. IS that correct.

Then there is a chance that the customer service agent might have cancelled your email account when they shut your account down . In the past when someone asked me to shut there account down i would shut the email down as well.

Re: email NTl to BT

ok fair enough

Whats the chances incoming email has been automatically deleted, might it have been held for a day or two?

is it worth a call to NTL to get them to forward any/all incoming mail for today for example to an address i supply them with. its a simple process to set up the new ones on the BT account and tell everyone of the new addy's. After today well thats it.
