I'd heard it on very good authority that the police won't be looking for anyone else in connection with the abduction.

Not just the punishment though.
For instance, if the sentance was life in prison, it wouldn't be much of a deterrant if the chances of being caught were nealry zero.
We need strong sentances to keep dangerous people away from the public, and high detection/conviction rates to deter people from doing it in the first place.

Honestly? it's topical, and happens to co-inside with the other dreadful crimes mentioned in this thread.
the actual rape took place some time ago, they've only just been sentanced, and thankfully the bloke got life.
if the other cases weren't in the news at the moment, this one probably wouldn't have been either.

Have reread this story kill these $^%& slowly and painfully as possible.

They have committed two of the worst crimes both on a baby. Justice sucks let the people deal the punishment.

I saw on a video clip from a website, it was a news broadcast from a area where the two convicted men (who raped and murdered a girl) where put up against the wall at shot by the family of the victim, with machine guns.

How can you be sure that the person found guilty actually did it? that is why I am against the death penalty.

better to make them serve life at a bare minimal acceptable level of life.
They've shown themselves to be uncivilised, so they should be excluded from civilisation. Life in solitary confinement should do.

On the contrary - I think he must have felt the shame to bring him to top himself. (OK, assuming he did the crime!)

I'd rather these monsters took themselves permanently out of the gene pool, than to have them get a ridiculously short jail sentence etc.
After all these cases the families always say the sentence isn't enough - now they've got a hanging, what more could they want?
