Router Problem-Live Streaming
Hi, I am trying use a software (webcammonitor) for video surveilliance between my home and work, but without success I get into the forums (http://www.deskshare.com/Forums/Show...px?PostID=1423) and found "Live Streaming requires a static or dynamic IP address. IP addresses starting with 192.x.x.x are non-routable. If you have a non-routable IP address then you cannot use it for remotely viewing a streamed video", but down there I found that is possible but I need to forward but I have XAVI7768 router and it have not the forwarding option, so what can I do?.
The SO is Windows XP and the router is from telefonica speedy 200 the same in my office, I tried to open a port in Network Address Translation (NAT). and disabled the XP firewall but when Itried to get in my office threw windows media player I just got this message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct.ââ‚ ‚¬Ã‚ÂÂ
Since I am new in this matters any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mariano

Re: Router Problem-Live Streaming
Thanks for a quick answer, I believed that 192.168.1.1 was the modem IP , but if not how can I get it ? and besides the modem IP is always the same or is dynamic?

Re: Router Problem-Live Streaming
If you click on connection at the top of this thread it will display you IP address.
The IP address is dynamic, but it will stay the same for a period of time (somebody here will say the length of time)
You might be able to buy a static IP but I don't know how much this would cost.
PS to the forum

Re: Router Problem-Live Streaming
Ok, webcam monitor let you reach your live images with windows media player, so when I write my public IP follow by the port I get this message:
"the WMP can not reproduce the file, maybe a net error or the server is no available.Check that it is connected to the net and the proxy configuration is wright"
But I have an ADSL router XAVI7768 in my office and as far as I know I am not conneted at any PROXY
Do I have to change something in my office router (besides this router feed 4 computers).
Thanks for your time David
