Newbie needs help!

This has probably been asked a few times, but couldn't find the answer I needed.

I have a new Samsung 32" LCD TV with built in Freeview. I also have an analogue NTL cable box for my Sky channels. I do not have a digital aerial in the house, but am fitting one this week so that I can pick up the Freeview channels and can clean up my standard 5 channels (BBC1, 2..) currently going through the cable box.
The channels through the BTL box are poor quality as there was an extension at the front of the house where the junction box was, and it is now buried under the house, not allowing me to get to the connection to improve the signal.
In short when I fit the aerial I will have 2 RF connectors going into the back of the TV, one for the NTL analogue box and one for the Freeview. Can I simply get a splitter at the back of the TV and fit 2 RF connectors to this, or is it not that simple? Will the two interfere with each other when tuning. The TV has a DTV (digital TV button) and a normal analogue TV button on the remote.

Sorry for my ignorance, help would be appreciated.

I think you are going to have to try it and see what happens. The critical thing will depend on the ntl STB output not interfering frequency wise with the terrestrial aerial signals needed for Freeview.

Make sure that the "splitter" you aquire is in fact a combiner - some of these gadgets may only work properly in one direction.
