Unhappy Whats up with Broadband in the Stafford region?

Hey guys and gals!
For the past three days ive had a huge problem with my connection! Im in Stafford and the connection is either slow (56K dial up days slow) or not there at all. (im on the 3meg service)
Ive called customer support and they say nothings wrong and nothings been reported. Ive checked on the website and it lists nothing for the past three days.
Is something major going on? as ive called three friends who live in the town and they are all having the same problems.
Can anyone help???
I have e-bay auctions I need to bid on! (oh and work to do, but that comes second! )

Thanks!

Re: Whats up with Broadband in the Stafford region?

So it appears we have a problem here, but why will Tech support not acknowledge it?
What did they say to you?

Re: Whats up with Broadband in the Stafford region?

They told me to disable my anti-virus program. I did that and said it was still slow. He then got my to disable my firewall and i told him it was still slow. He then said "the problem is your antivirus program". I told him it wasn't and he hung up.

I'm in Stafford myself and haven't noticed any major problems. The odd "drop" last week but other then that everything seems to be hunky dory.

Re: Whats up with Broadband in the Stafford region?

Pop80

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 1024000 bps = 1Mbps, not 3, you have a problem with either your service or your modem config file.

PS the speed you are seeing on the speed test is consistant with the 1M service, ask CS what service you should be on??

Re: Whats up with Broadband in the Stafford region?

Hi
Sorry I made a mistake I am actually on the 1mb service, I think the problem is with my packets, I have 10 - 15% packet loss.
Im sure this is the problem. Just no one seems to be able to fix it

Re: Whats up with Broadband in the Stafford region?

Use a program called tracert or traceroute, gives timing info and possible points to the problem. Have a read on this link its very informative,

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...raceroute.html

if you still have probs might be an idea to post the trace results you obtained on this thread.
