NTL Internet with 2 Computers
Ok, I was wondering how I get my NTL 2MB Internet connection to 2 computers. I want to do it a cheap and easy way. I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed on each one so, everything is ok. The computer is really near. About 10metres between. It can be wireless/wire. Which ever way is easy. I heard you couldn't put a ethernet cable in the back of the NTL Broaband box while using USB. So, thats my prob! I need a good easy way to receive internet in my room. Thanks !

Re: NTL Internet with 2 Computers
You could use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) assuming both comps have ethernet.

You can use Internet Connection sharing with USB (but replacing the USB with an ethernet card - you would need 2 ehternet cards in you PC using this method - would probably be more reliable and less taking on the main PC's resources)
modem > main PC USB
main PC ethernet (using connection sharing) <> crossover ethernet cable <> 2nd PC ethernet.

USB relies on your computer's CPU and other general hardware and resources to operate.
A specific network card has dedicated hardware on board taking some o fhte load off the CPU.
On that basis ehternet can be faster. Most people though wouldn't notice a difference, except perhaps when the PC is running full tilt on other things at the same time as needing internet / network.
