As has been mentioned before. All speeds will be upgraded to 10MB by next year. the 3MB customers are getting upgraded to 10MB this month and then 2MB by early next year and the 1MB by later on next year.

2mbit would mean 5:1 contention ration if only we be so lucky

30:1 would mean around 330kbit if everyone was downloading at once.

Ambit 200
Walthamstow, NE London
Getting 10mb consistently downloading graphics drivers from www.nvidia.com at 1mb a sec.
Web pages not loading so fast, InternetFrog speed test shows 3-4mb?
Kazaa not much faster either (I used it for scientific testing purposes).

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

I recieved the update on the 2nd december, my setup is ntl 120 modem, netgear RP614 version 1 router.
my speeds have been around the
Sun, 11 Dec 2005 11:51:39 GMT
1st 128K took 282 ms = 464794 Bytes/sec = approx 3867 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 187 ms = 700920 Bytes/sec = approx 5832 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 156 ms = 840205 Bytes/sec = approx 6991 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 188 ms = 697191 Bytes/sec = approx 5801 kbits/sec

Today i experimented by going ethernet straight from cm into the pc, the speed went upto 9.96 Mbps, thus in my case prooving that the limiting factor is the router, maybe an upgrade for the router, any recomendations.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

If everyone is getting a free speed upgrade to 10mb then why do people on the 3mb package pay £37.99 and 2mb £24.99. How is that going to work? I pay out enough to ntl without another price increase.

Free upgrade as in NTL won't charge you an admin fee for upgrading which they tried to introduce when the new speeds first came out.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

A friend of mine has just told me that he has recently got his 2mb upgraded to 10mb for free, and without paying anymore, e.g. he's still paying 24.99 a month as he did with 2mb.
This true? Or is he lieing. Seems strange to me.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

Yes it has been talked about before everyone will get put on 10MB by next year and you wil still all pay the same, however there will be different usage limits on each price tier.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

So you're saying, yes, he's telling the truth, but he'll currently have a 30gb cap? It just seems weird to me, because i was on 2mb and the only way i could get 10mb was to upgrade and pay that 37.99.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

only people that should be on 10MB just now are those people on 3MB and paying £37.99.

2MB is due to be upgraded to 10MB sometime in the first part of next year.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

So then he IS lieing? lol
The only possible way he's got 10mb right now, is if he's paying 37.99/m .

I just want to check because i don't wanna be paying more than i need to :x
