can anyone help - PLEASE
Hi All
my internet speeds have been really good, had no problem with the internet except when they moved me up fron 1 meg to 3 meg, some time ago , anyway after a month with no joy a very kind guy[ntl engineer] on the forum sorted it out for me.I have been told that i am on the 10 meg but my speeds are now worse than when i was on 3 meg, apart from the weekend where they were excellent, and it seemed that i was on 10 meg, can anyone help me please as ntl say my modem is working correctly and the signal is fine, has the 10 meg rolled out in hertfordshire or are they still doing maintanance and why was i getting what seemed to be the right speeds and now im not.
THANX

Re: can anyone help - PLEASE
Sorry I can't help you more than suggest you do a speed test and post the results for someone more techie.
You could always try posting in the NTL broadband section and not the NTL tv section

caroline, do you get slow speeds just browsing, or are they slow for other things as well, such as FTP downloads?

Re: Slow speeds on 10 Meg
Go to Quick Links at the top of this page and select New Speed Test and post the results...
This test seems to give more reliable results.

Re: Slow speeds on 10 Meg
OK, have you logged in to your modem to make sure that you actually have the 10mb config file?
(assuming you have an ambit modem)
to do this type - http://192.168.100.1/ in to your web address field
the username and password is root
click on Operation Configuration and check that your -
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000 bps
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000 bps
is as above.
If not, then you do not have 10mb.
Keep us posted....

That's because it never *leaves* the NTL network so it isn't really a test at all. Try going to here http://www.irishisptest.com/myspeed/ and then report your results. I just ran the test and got 9.80 mbps down and 527 kbps up. Spot on for 10 meg.
