4100 log ???

I've just had a look at the log for my motorla SB4100 modem (currently at 2MB service), and there are failed attempts at "unit updates".

It simply says "this image is not for this platform"

Whats that all about? could it have somthing to do with me being behind a firewall protected router etc?

Re: 4100 log ???

Pure guess, but it could be something to do with automatic firmware updates which are ONLY for those on the 3MB service

Re: 4100 log ???

Suppose thats possible, I might give it a full reboot and see what happens, if anything.

Re: 4100 log ???

Nothing to do with routers, if you look, you'll see that the modem is on the ntl side of the router

More likely the DHCP server is telling the modem to download a new firmware (nothing to do with speed, incidentally, although some firmware updates have been done recently to fix bugs etc.) and the file isn't for your 4100. It might be for a 3100, for instance.
