Re: blockin all my Internet

Sounds like a dodgy power pack/ cable or modem. needs replacing by the sounds of it.
Probably a coincidence that it goes off on certain web sites.

Re: blockin all my Internet

Check that the modems power supply is connected firmly, if its not, it may explain the problem.

I suggest you do that.

FYI, Cable Modems neither know nor care what sites you visit.

Re: blockin all my Internet

Yeah most likely.

If the power light goes off, there is most likely some serious hardware problem with the device

You say you have a cable modem, so what happens with the status lights on the front? Do you lose the steady SYNC and RDY lights? Are the U/S and D/S lights still flashing? All Lights go of

Do you have a firewall or other software that shows what traffic is going in and out of your system? Yes run Zone Labs for my Firewall & router,

is ntl using a transparent proxy ? my webhost askin
In reply to the last question, yes, NTL do use transparent proxies. If you click on the 'Connection' link in the toolbar at the top of this page, it will tell you if your connection is using one, and, if so, which one. Don't know if its anything to do with your problem, but some badly-coded web sites will block ALL users of a proxy if ONE user has a virus, etc.
