Tech support clearly told me today that I am not seeing more than 3M because the network will not support it in my area - and not because I have a Ambit 100 (although he did say that if my network was updated then I still would not get 10M until I change the modem - but I would get more than 3...).

I think on page 1 of this thread - first post - it says the ntl 100 doesn't do 10meg - I assume that's the same as an Ambit 100?

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
OK - well I've been away for a while, but I have a Terayon 210, and I'm still only getting 3mb. Is there a upgrade page to go to? Do you ring CS? (I'd expect some increase on this modem even if it cant handle 10mb) Is there any idea of the geographic areas that have been upgraded? Somebody give me a summary if poss please.
Cheers

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
All current 3mb customers in the Renfrew area will be upgraded to 10mb automatically in December. This is ofcourse according to a very good friend of mine at Maxwell Road.
In short I haven't got long to wait.
Can anyone tell me on how to actually apply for trials of the new 10mb service? Is there a link to maybe sign up for future trials and stuff?
Cheers in advance.

Re: 10 meg - Modem, Location & Speed you're getting
Phoned up to ask for upgrade from 2mb to 3mb, they said I couldnt have the 10mb service yet. Then for some reason the operator removed my modem from the network!
Spent the next half hour on the phone tryying to get back online. a nice lady from NTL: then asked if I would like to go on the 10mb "trial"
Now I'm connected at the "10mb" speed in Blackburn im getting 4.5 mb download and 0.5mb upload

Anyone have any Ideas I have the NTL 250 Cable Modem and I am deff not getting full speeds. It is anything to do with USB Connection? Also does it really take 24 hours?

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Ive rung NTL 3 times so far and been told that I could not be upgraded.
Looks like it might be getting harder to get upgraded rather than easier.
I would have thought that if the confusion were due to cs staff not having read their emails properly that it might get easer to find one that actually knew the correct details.
Maybe i am just plain unlucky.

I dont think you've been told anything new here - it's the original plan revealed in August by NTL that all 3meg users will be upgraded to 10meg by the end of the year so they're probably just refering to that.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Your line speed:
3841.8 Kbps
470.8 K bytes/se
That is only Rogh tho it goes up to Low 500s and then down to high 300s on Downloads.

I hate it when ntl do this. I don't mind having to wait until december - but I spoke the same callcentre, the same department and 2 people have told me conflicting things.
And as usual, the first person I spoke to did not make a record of the call.
Ah well, let's hope my email to one of ntl's directors gets the person in the wrong in a serious amount of trouble.

with reference to the CSR's not making a record of previous calls, NTL CSR's are told only to memo an account if the customer is making a complaint.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
Right this might put things in perspective for those of you bitching about not getting the upgrade.
[i recived a letter this morning informing me that i would be upgraded later in the day]
sure enough around 3pm this afternoone my recived the new config, the modem rebooted and died.. naturaly i though oh maby they turned the server off for the upgrade.. so i waited three hours... no change
went round to my negbours house (who IS on the same UBR and his 2meg connection was fine) i then realised something was wrong
so
i called Customer Support and asked them if their was a problem with my UBR, their reply was simple.. no UBR 5 is fine but your modem isnt showing up on our system, hang on whilst we connect you to Tech Support.
just had a nice long chat with a NTL tech support guy called Mick, he sounded very stressed and when i told him someone had screwed the config on my Terayon TJ210 he quickly sent the pulse and reset me to 3mbit. and put me on hold whilst he screamed at the CS manager. (because his staff sent me the letter.. or so i expect)
anyway after a few mins on hold, he told me that whoever had upgraded me had put me on the closest 10meg enabled UBR without checking, after a short chat about NTL's Customer Services screwups, he dispatched a work team to upgrade UBR 5 and the others in the Huddersfield area.
Just to confirm only UBR 7 is ready for the Upgrade in the huddersfield area! (some others may become avaliable in a day or so.. UBR 5 is currently being configured to allow the 10meg service [thanks to Mick @ Tech Support])
================================================
Also It seems Customer Service has been told to upgrade ANYONE who asks, Whereas Tech Support has been screeching at them to stop upgrading people, becuase the Customer Service Staff are changing people to diffrent UBR's which is causing the modem's config to clash with the UBR's config and effectivly generates a lot of problems put simply the more of you who ask for it, the longer its going to take for others to get it, because tech support guys are having to deal with your problems before they can update more UBR's for the service.
Quite literally, before you upgrade ASK whoever your talking to at CS if your UBR is upgraded to accept the 10Meg config file!
================================================== ==========
sorry about my spelling/gramma, ive been up since 23:00 last night (night shift at work)

Yes I know - it is. The point I was making was I'm not sure if that means it does not work at all on the 10Meg service (i.e. no more than 3 Meg) - or if its supposed to work higher than 3Meg but not make the full 10 Meg...
As I can get no more then 3 Meg I'm not sure if the modem is the problem or if the upgrade it the problem,,,

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)
ok they obviously have problems so perhaps people should hang fire for a week for 2 or just wait until they get automatically upgraded.
