Re: Ipod clicking !

A sad face icon means your hard drive is busted, its not your fault BTW, doing a simple reset wont work, the problem is that there is something physically wrong with the harddrive and the rest of the ipod cant communicate with it.

If your ipod is still under warranty, call up apple and they'll send you a replacement for free.

Re: Ipod clicking !

Well, you could try to call them anyway and chance your luck. Did you register it at the time with apple? I would phone them and say you think its about a year old but your not sure etc...

Re: Ipod clicking !

You could try a drive self test. Reset the Ipod and when the apple log appears press the back, foward and select buttons. This will access the engineers menu and you can either run all 5 test or select them idividually. In a few cases the hard drive heads have got stuck and a 'light' tap to the ipod on it's side will get it back up and spinning.

Brilliant suggestion by the way - how the hell did you think of that.

Glad you got it working again Mike.

Kudos!

Re: Ipod clicking !

Er I erm have revived many an ipod by doing that, funnily enough we had loads of ipods come back as 'faulty' when the nanos came out and the video ipods, strange as 90% either had not fault or just needed the software updating! The service menu is pretty handy too.

Mike, did you intend to red rep me for that!?

Mike a RED rep is a bad thing..... a GREEN rep is good - you just brought DOWN his reputation. (Speak to a mod - they will fix it for you!)

EDIT : PM'd Simon M for you....
