I'm using a patch cable, with RJ45 connectors, straight to the motherboard which has 10/100/1000mb lan.

You should unplug your usb cable, uninstall any usb drivers you've installed for it, reboot, plug in your ethernet cable (no drivers needed with ethernet) and you should be good to go.

Taken from the server status page.
"On the morning of Thursday the 10th of November between midnight and 6 AM, Service upgrades will result in a loss of service in the Birmingham, Renfrew, Brighton, Luton, Winnersh, Nottingham, Northampton and surrounding areas."
Either the weather is to wet for them to work in, Or most likely that this has absolutly sod all to do with the 10mb network upgrades. Which a post hinted at that I read on somewhere on here, and thought that's what is was for.
Ah well
