Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Have been following this thread with interest as am on 2meg at the moment.
It was said in one of the earlier posts, but seems like nobody noticed, that NTL are offering to upgrade your speed with the first month free.
This offer expires on the 31st December.
The offer does not say what speed you can upgrade to but this is available to anybody on either the 1 or 2meg connection.
Have just finished watching channel 120 and this is what they are advertising.
So anybody that has upgraded, to be able to get the 10meg connection when it rolls out, have missed out on a months free surfing.
I will probably wait until Christmas time and then get mine upgraded with the first month free.
For anybody thinking of upgrading their speed I would advise they check out channel 120 first before they ring.

Just tried CS for upgrade in Ipswich area and was told that the 10Mb service was only being trialled at the moment and that if results were good service will be available in January. So not upgrade yet!

I originally chose opt.2 yesterday and didn't get the upgrade. Today I phoned and chose opt.5 Spoke to a very nice scottish lady who checked whether 10Mb was available in my area, she said yes.

I'm going to try again and if they refuse I'll demand to be put back onto 2mb as thats how this whole thing started.

NO, that is incorrect! His computers don't say that, ask him to read his email right to the bottom! 3mb customers can demand to be put on 10mb and CS have to do it. Phone them until you get a decent employee or wait if you want.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Ok, i phoned up again just now but chose option 5 instead, they guy was very helpful and said he will put me on 10mb. He had to speak to the account holder first then i got the phone back nd he said it's done. He told me to shutdown the computer for about 30 seconds, and then boot it back up and i will have 10mb. So i done what he said and i havn't got it He did say sometimes it takes upto an hour to happen, but people on here have said it happens straight away Might just have to wait a bit...

The waiting is a load of old tosh, its just incase they have a backlog. Then again, maybe they do with all us C***s calling.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
What should the config file be called for 10 mbit/s?
I presently have "cmreg-mota4100-high.cm
" for 3 mbit/s.
