Yes, and they have also confirmed a lot of things like it not being available for a start...

There is clearly a state of confusion, therefore my best advice would be to wait for some facts...

Still if you still want to cancel then it is not really any skin off *my* nose is it?

or just when you download, chances are you won't get a solid 10mb everytime you download. Remember the upgrade is for up to 10mb.
just get 5meg all the time on any speed test
thanks

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

well just phoned CS and spoke to a very nice scottish gentleman and asked if he knew when it would be available in my area and he said hold a minute and then told me he could do it for me there and then - all I have to do is re-boot my pc in a couple of hours and away I go - great response from NTL

no its not, i dont mind ditching the tv as its like watching streaming files from the internet on dial up at the best of times anyway! If i wanted still screens I would shove on a dvd and hit pause.

My problem here is that as usual CS tell you millions of different things, and they only thing they all agree on is that STB customers cannot have the upgrade - this is the first time i have been told anything by NTL where each person has agreed on something!

I am on the phone to tech support and they are checking this out as they think its strange why new samsung boxes are given out and then only to be told they are not up to scratch when it comes to any futher broadband speed increases....seems a nice thing for NTL to do to waste money! when they could have put a SACM in place months and months ago (but they didnt want to lose all the money we pay each month).

And waiting for NTL to give you the facts that everyone agrees on has about as much chance of happening as it does of me winning the lottery week in week out for a year

Firstly, this is not about the TV service its about the 10mb upgrade.

Secondly, your point about the CS advisors telling you a milion different things only reinforces my point re mass confusion.

Wait for the facts and base your actions on them, not rumours is all I am saying, besides there is bound to be some one who chirps up that they have a stb and have got the upgrade sooner or later....

Personally, I would go for Sky+ (but make sure you get a Pace box) and SACM from NTL (which is what I have)...

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

My plea to NTL

Dear Mister NTL,

Please mister NTL can you please upgrade me, I pay lots and lots of money each month to get my services and keep you happy.
Everyday I check this forum called "Cable Forum" more and more people on cheaper tiers are getting the upgrade I find this extremely unfair, these people pay less money than me please tell me, have you ever heard of keeping your existing customers happy I don't think you have to be honest Mister I think that you are just interrested in getting more and more money.
I rang you today regarding the 10mb upgrade and i got put through to a scottish lass who told me no one in the country has been upgraded, to which I laughed and said "Miss I think you need to check Cable Forum", I then proceeded to ask miss when do you think I will be upgraded she replied with "end of december".

I left my search for a little while and decided to check back in a few hours to my disbeleive it seems half of the members on this forum have the upgrade includings ones in manchesterI thought to myself I may aswell have another try and ring NTL.
To my dismay the wee scottish man said no you will not be connected not untill first thing december, now I ask you mister NTL which one are you going to choose?

Will you go for:

A) If i ring you up tomorrow will you give me the upgrade?
B) You will have to wait untill end of December!
C) You will have to wait untill the beginning of December!

I hope you manage to sort your staff out it seems to me that non of them know what the hell is going on.

Please ring me when you get this letter.

Thanks

Deathball

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)

I'm in Cardiff and had a 3 meg connection. Just called cs and said I would like it upgraded to the new 10meg speeds. He said yes, no problem and it would take about an hour to kick in. 2 minutes later i came to pc, did a speed test and got this:
Downstream8202 Kbps (1,025.3 KB/sec)8858 Kbps (inc. overheads)Upstream485 Kbps (60.6 KB/sec)523 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Thank you NTL.
