Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
those on 3 meg can only upgrade through a phone call to CS at the moment, but it might be worth keeping an eye on the online upgrader.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Hi Peeps,
Been reading everything and thought i'd let you know i managed to get 3mb upgraded to 10 mb.
First guy on the phone said no upgrades of any sort until somtime in the next month-ish! Pointed out to him that i was looking at the 10mb upgrade page as we spoke and he implied i was lying or stupid.
Had big row about customer service and asked to speak to a supervisor and get this, HE REFUSED!
After much toing and froing he cut me off.
Rang back minutes later and spoke to a very pleasant scottish guy who said "no problem" and upgraded me there and then. He did say that due to the nature of the roll out, i may not get full 10mb service but that i would notice a marked increase in speed.
True to his word, i'm now getting approx' 7 - 8mb consistant downloads.
It seems it's just luck folks, so keep plugging away.
Sorry to go on a bit.
Cheers

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Also phoned and used option 2, when asked said I would like "10mb" was told, yes we can do this, but account info I had was for the tv/phone and not internet (had internet account years before tv/phone) and both billed on different days, so he said would have to pass me to CS, anyway 35 mins later was told that it would be done before the new year, got the impression the cs staff did not want to upgrade me there and then.

Well maybe I should throw my toys out of the pram and start stamping up and down then...
Personally, whilst I would like 10mb I can wait for it, my stuff comes down nice and quick as it is and as it is a FREE upgrade that has had no official release date except before the end of the year, personally I cant see what there is to whine about?
After all, I am getting what I have paid for, 3mb for £37.99p per month with a FREE 10mb upgrade at some point in the next few weeks.

I'm not stamping up and down. My point is, the consumer demands a lot of a company - and if NTL realised that it's not so smart to realise press releases so early on, they might save themselves a lot of agro.
But they can do that. Why? Because, when they release these press releases, they're already following everyone else. NTL can't lead - they only follow.

Or in this case pay £37.99 per month with 75gb included and pay extra for what you go over by.
I can't see any difference in the 2 models and should work much better.
After all your calls dont go slower because your on a lower tarrif wy should your bb?

Fair points.....
However, most know there is a cost element using the phone and most phone companies, land and mobile, have online billing to measure your usage.
The point was the service we are buying is not very tangible and it is hard to measure usage unlike the phone.
