To bo honest, if they say no - leave it 5 minutes and call back. I know this could be frowned upon here - but ive found in the past that sometimes you can just get somone who is reading from a script - and somone that's willing to help and knows the system.
That person can generally sort you out in a couple of minutes. Just luck of the draw

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
I just downgraded to 2mb. When I called back the guy said, what speed do you want cuz you've just downgraded. I said, well I was told if you downgrade to 2mb and upgrade back to 3mb, you can get 10mb. He goes: so you want 3mb and laughed. I said, yeah. He goes, ok i'll do it for you.
He came back saying he had troubles and to hold. Came back again and said, I think we can get you 10mb, but i'll have to call you back. Now waiting for the call. I really don't wanna be stuck on 2mb!

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Finally de-lurked to pass on my CS experience. Phoned to try and get the 10meg upgrade and was told that this was for new customers only, existing customers wouldnt be upgraded until Dec. Tried to inform the CS guy that folk were being upgraded as we speak and he told me that he would be putting a 'monitor' on my account to make sure I didn't do the same thing.
So basically they want to ignore all the customers they have in the mad chase for new customers. Wheres the logic? A bird in the hand....

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
well i phoned up CS, eventually got through to a nice scottish lady (one was mentioned earlier) and equired about going up 10 mb from my 3mb line. She went off for a bit, then came back, and seemed to be saying she couldn't do that, then she said, ok, that's done for, just reboot your modem and pc and it should be done.
woohoo i thought, but deep down i knew it was too good to be true, and i am, in fact, still on 3mb.
NTL i salute you... with my middle finger.

I am on 3Mbit. I rung NTL CS and asked to be downgraded to 2Mbit. They did this. I confirmed I was on 2Mbit via the ADSLguide Speed Test. I then rung NTL CS and asked to be upgraded to the top tier. They said that is 3Mbit. I asked if 10Mbit was available and was told it wasn't. I was put back to 3Mbit and have just checked the ADSLguide Speed Test page again; it's 3Mbit and not 10Mbit. All this took about 30 minutes. I am in Southern Hampshire and have a seperate cable modem.

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
I'm on 2 meg.
I phoned CS, first time they said I couldnt upgrade, the 10meg was for new customers only.
Second time, I acted daft and said I wanted to 'get faster internet' for 37.99 not mentioning speeds, first she said I could have 3 meg for 41.99 but i'd have to buy broadband plus, then she said I could have 10 meg for 37.99.
I said that would do
