Re: centrino wireless q&a

you need to be a little bit more specific.

Your laptop should have some form of switch to enable the wireless lan, you will then have options to scan for a wireless access point, hotspots dont have protection normally so you can connect straight to them, i wouldnt advise internet banking or anything though.

Well you could always use Dial Up via your mobile but that is irrelevant to a Centrino Wireless Question you could do that on virtually any laptop and anywhere not just in pubs etc.

Re: centrino wireless q&a

I think Intel's marketing is a bit naughty. They give the impression centrino will give you network connectivity wherever you are - which it won't.

That said, there are enough hotspots around to make it not too difficult to find something. Especially if you're happy to pay through the nose.

In terms of network providers, you don't usually get a choice. You have to connect up and use whatever's available. (Usually T-Mobile or BTOpenZone in my experience)

Re: centrino wireless q&a

You should have a switch on the side of your laptop probably.
This will enable your wireless functions.

Now just this doesnt mean you can connect to the internet anywhere through the clouds.
You need to find a list of areas that offer free hotspots.
Some shopping centres, cafes, libraries now offer this service free, whilst others may charge you.

Intel offer a hotspot search facility HERE

HERE you can search for more free hotspots.

errrrr what?? But I will offer you a I was going to go into our local PC world and ask for a pc that connects to the internet anywhere as per the Centrino add as spiderplant says there is deceit in this add, free open zones afaik are usually restricted to the cities although saying that theres a school up the road has an insecure(or is in unsecured my grammer bad paybe the school is paranoid) wireless link in open hours,A lot od mcdonalds have an open zone but your charged. You could go roaming and find your own areas maybe an unfortunate neighbour has not set wep up (of course I do not advocate this )
