I'm not sure NTL is getting Sky 3 in the forseeable - it's being pimped as a "Introduction to pay TV", hence the reason freeview get it...

Yes, because specifically it's an introduction to $ky - it hardly costs them anything to stick it on their network, so why not? It just means they're less likely to persue sticking it on NTL.

They will want to get the channel on NTL if for no other reason than because the amount you can sell your advertising space for depends on the size of your audience. It's not in their interests to deny the channel to NTL. I expect there is some backroom horse-trading going on over what NTL want to charge them for carriage. I would be very surprised if it's not there within about 6 months.
