12 years i been with them for TV,Phone and internet i must be mad lol, maybe another reason why i didn't get put down to 512k compared to someone who only has BB and only been with them 12months and clearly only using their BB service to download 24/7

because you have effectivly a closed market as most who take broadband from ntl do so because they bought the tv telephone package and want 1 bill

personaly i think they should have to seperate out telephone costs from tv

and once they did that they may see a diferent story as people jump ship from phone and broadband

i would for one as all i care about is unlimited data not speed at all costs

Nah, I don't think that should be the case, personally.

What I see as much more important is the availability of 'vanilla' ADSL, e.g. ADSL without having to have a BT phoneline. Therefore, you could have NTL TV and a phoneline and then an ADSL connection on top.

yep but as it is you have to get another phone line at the moment and with the way ntl bundle that is a cost on top of what ever package you pick

yep if they stopped charging for the telephone line for adsl i would go then to

today is a good example why i have me, my two kids, the wife, and a niece and nephew here on the 4 computers we have between them

i do nt wish to have to worry about a bill i dont care if its a bit slow though even on my 300k ( 1 meg now even though i opted out ) conection i can still play runescape while they surf

if that 512 thing is made available i will take that but there are faster cheaper things there if i could unbundle phone

That'll be because they make a tidy profit of telephone lines, and not sure a profit out of broadband or (especially) digital TV. It'd be nice if they didn't bundle in a phone line, but it's the way they're staying in business!

which is what i was saying in reply to bill ( i think lol )

that they have a closed market of people who have little choice as not many can afford a second telephone line

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

I think if the situation was the same as the usa and our cable industry had not been supplying phonelines the ntl broadband takeup would be a different story.

They do. It's called Netguard.

ntl stated in one of their press releases earlier in the year, that they would provide a means of allowing the customer to check the amount they download before they started to enforce the cap.

Re: Cap Question?

When does traffic reset?

Also will they be arsed if i go over say one or two gigabytes?

I mean Im not a persistant line crosser - Ive kept my usage lower than the caps but this month Ive been using alot of streaming video/audio so ive kinda cranked up the usage...

Damn if only NTL would sign Arirang to their TV service....

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

Also I just realised i'm gimped for this month... DUMETER reset itself and was monitoring all traffic:

That means all VNC/Other traffic between my wireless systems, all virtual traffic between my VMWARE BSD system as well as my main systems usage.

I dont have a clue where im upto cap wise then :/

Re: *ALL* ntl Cap Discussion (Part 3)

just for those who still think ntl won't cap, when i was on pc earlier today my connection dropped out for a few seconds, when it came back on it was on the reduced speed so can only download now at about 60k, still at least i don't have to worry about caps for now.
