Re: Bromley upgrade starting....
Been updated here this morning in East Manchester, first impressions very good (took a few seconds instead of a few minutes to get into the EPG so may actually be usable now!) Don't quite get the point of having mini-guide written in big letters at the side of the uh mini guide, seems more than obvious what it is!

Thanks for the update
Is that Surrey - as in Aldershot, Hampshire Surrey - Weybridge, Walton, Addlestone, or even Surrey - Guildford
ntl seem to have some odd geography
If Addlestone, it would explain why my EPG was even more useless than normal last night. At least ntl have now sent me "the essential handbook for your new improved Digital TV service", so it must at long last be "coming soon"

It's not Guildford - that's Langley - it's Franchise 465, which is officially "North & North-East Surrey" and includes Hersham, Addlestone, Leatherhead and Reigate hubs. If you reboot your box, you should get BU2.

Re: Bromley upgrade starting....
Okay, well it seems to have killed my box for now. It's been down a good couple of hours I think, NTL logo, one green light. Is it supposed to take this long? Tried rebooting, but it's dead. :|

Re: Bromley upgrade starting....
I'm afraid that sounds like a very dead box. Give the Fault Management Centre a ring on 0800 052 2000 (Option 3) to get a replacement!

Re: Bromley upgrade starting....
With any update, there's a risk of boxes not taking the download or being killed by it. Unfortunately, it's just something we have to manage as best we can.

Isn't there a way to completely wipe or reset the memory somehow? It doesn't actually melt hardware does it?

Re: Bromley upgrade starting....
There is, but it requires taking the box apart. It isn't a case of hardware melting as such - certainly not literally - but any number of things can cause a box to stop responding.
Still, at least you'll have a shiny new one tomorrow...

Re: Bromley upgrade starting....
Right. Well, I have a 1000 box, so I will look on the bright side and hope to get one a bit speedier?
Sky blew me away when I saw it again recently. I kept thinking, I have a hard cable into my house, how can it work 20 times faster? :p
