Sharper inspections yield results

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/4298272.stm

Quote:
Inspection changes
Shorter notice - one or two days
Shorter inspections - two days instead of five
Schools' self-evaluation is central
Simpler grading from 1 (outstanding) to 4 (inadequate)
Children's views on school become more important
Early days yet but I think the shorter warning will give a better picture and mean that teachers and schools will have to keep records up to date. Can only improve matters.

Also less "headless chicken" time for Heads, Governors and Teachers.

in my opinion, as for the 'health' sector, resource allocation in Education has to be assessed on the actual need - a Primary School in an urban environment has different criteria, than a rural based, one, for example?

i.e. not based on 'results'

Agree, also allowances should be made for high turnover schools which cater for the children of service personnel.
