Should cooing at babies be banned?

I can understand about preventing cross infection. But human rights? That's a bit OTT.

Not quite sure what human rights has to do with it, but if it is to stop infections then I'm ok with it.

Re: Should cooing at babies be banned?

IIRC it is vital for speech development and bonding that parents and relatives speak "motherese" to young babies. It has more to do with tone and mouth movement than the words.

Whoever these "jobs worths" are they need to go back to school and actually learn something rather than try out ill conceved theories on vulnerable babies.

I would prefer to say "human rights". It's a load of tosh IMO, like a lot of "human rights"...

Couldn't believe it when I read it... Truth really is stranger than fiction.

One of the best things about being a parent is people cooing over your baby and telling you how beautiful they are.

If that is one of the best things, I'm glad I'm not a parent

I hated it with my kids, when you are in a supermarket you turn for a second and there is a total stranger leaning into the pram

What should be done is you tell said strangers that its bad luck not to leave cash when looking at a newborn (old wives and all that) then if they dont pay punch them and tell them you said it would be bad luck

Oh dear, not only is this ridiculous, but it's brought the "it's all the fault of the lefties/ PC brigade/ I don't like "human rights"" crew out of the woodwork again...

but in saying what i did, a simple "may i look at the baby" makes a whole lot of difference,
so only ban the people who dont ask, because its rude
