i have just helped my gf get her laptop online in her dorm she has to sign into campus thing in browser then shes on. though msn messenger won't sign in, she can only get on via web messenger!
Yep, like dilli says, it's been blocked at the firewall level. MSN messenger works over port 1863 (TCP outgoing), and it's extremely likely that your friendly Sys Admin have blocked that port.
The web version, however, runs over port 80, which of course is the standard http port.
