Network

I was just wondering if there has been any recent activity where ntl have blocked two computers networked together accessing the internet.

I have had a major problem with my wireless connection.

Basically i have had it running for a year now without problems.

Laptop connected wirelessly to home pc.

However the whole thing went down today and after hours of testing have no solution.

The laptop connects to the network fine however the internet does not work, from what i can see it used to set the ip and all the rest but now when i look at it, it is only resolving the Physical Address, IP Address, but noting appears for the Default Gateway, DNS Server and WINS Server.

I have been using the built in wireless however i have also tried a network card i had from before; same problem.

I dont know what to fault, hardware, software, HP, NTL, Windows?????/

Is there someone who can suggest why it is not resolving the above.

p.s when i click to repair it finishes to say it failed. Using XP Home

Re: Network

There has been no such action by ntl. Can I ask if you are using an ad-hoc network, or a wireless access point/wireless router? It might be worth reinstalling the drivers for the wireless cards.

However, it sounds to me like an Internet Connection Sharing issue. Try disabling it and re-enabling it - that may reset the settings.

Re: Network

im not 100% sure on that but i do have a wireless router between it on my pc.
Suppose that makes it an wireless access point/wireless router.

I have noticed that a second device is on the list of available networks called "linksys", ive never seen this before.

I have a feeling someone is messing with my network?

Re: Network

Do you have the Wireless Router connected just to the PC, or to the Cable Modem as well? Is it possible to connect the laptop to the router directly via an Ethernet cable?

Re: Network

Has a neighbour recently gone wireless, on linksys and you are both trying to create wireless lans on the same frequency, change yours from the default to 1, 6, 11, or 13 and your problems may go away.

Or, try connecting the laptop physically and see if it gets online that way.

Problem Solved!

I dont know what it was but i download the software for the device.

THANK YOU
