How do I share a telewest cable connection to a PC in my room?

Hi, I am so sorry to not search through threads for an answer I just do not have much time.

I just moved into a house where one of my housemates has a Telewest cable connection. His PC is plugged into the telewest box and he has a "SURFboard ® SB5100 External Cable Modem". The modem doesnt have any spare slots for anything. I suppose a router would 'plugged in on the way' to one of the slots already used.

I want to be able to pick up the internet connection wirelessly, running cables through the house isnt an option.

I was told that I should do this using a router and a card but I have to admit I dont really understand the technical side too much. I think I have also seen some sort of router/USB option. This sounds more like the thing I would be able to do.

What I really need is for somebody to tell me the components to buy (because you would already know which are compatable) and maybe a step by step as to how to configure them.

I just need want to spread the connection to my 1 PC, no more.
My PC is a new Dell Dimension.

This is a link to the modem he uses, if its of any use.

Thank you for your time. I would appreciate responses in a hurry if possible as I only have access to the net for 1-2 days.

WRT54G is ethernet only so will link into cable and ADSL, but requires additional hardware for both (for cable the modem/stb provided by TW or NTL, for ADSL a separate ADSL>Ethernet modem).

You might want to consider this
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...VisitorWrapper
for a desktop
or this
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...VisitorWrapper
for a laptop instead of the USB dongle. Should be more reliable.

I would agree with the pci card option and be assured installing it is not as daunting as it may seem but if your not confident enough to crack the case the usb should do the job
