PC Keeps freezing
System as per signature.
It just freezes and won't respond to anything. I have good cooling so it's not heat.
Am I looking at a driver issue?
Cheers.

Re: PC Keeps freezing
Freezing problems could be due to almost anything. TBH mate, it's more than likely a memory problem, as 90% of the PC's with these problems are due to a faulty memory chip, or RAM slot.
Run MemTest86 (You can download it from the Microsoft website), and test each stick.

Cheers.
Looks like I need to run it in DOS though as it won't work in x64.

Re: PC Keeps freezing
As I remember, memtest creates a bootable floppy and runs from there.

Re: PC Keeps freezing
Of course, you can eliminate the driver by reformatting.

Nowt wrong with the sticks, apart from them not being compatible, in that case.

No, it would just return read/write errors like it is doing.

Go back to the shop and tell them it is an official microsoft product. If they dont know what it is then it's their problem, and that if they dont replace it, you'll take it up with trading standards.
If it's a major chain store, and they've never heard of memtest, then get in touch with their head office. If it's a small store, just spread the news that they dont have a clue what they are doing. Someone who doesnt know what Memtest is should not be running any form of PC store.
