At the moment, nothing.
AFAIK the hard caps haven't been introduced.
However, NTL will write to you and ask you to curb your usage if they deem that your high usage is compromising the connections of other people in your area.

currently, they don't do anything. If you do it regularly, though, you may get a warning letter.

There's no hard cap at the moment so don't worry, but when the new speeds come in i believe you'll be charged on anything over your cap.

A little troll sneaks in to your house and snips your equipment so you can never use it again!
Nah it is as has been said, not a lot at the moment

Re: whats happens once you go over the 3 gig limit
I guess things will change when every one gets the 10Mb connections.
Is it correct, that it has already been stated by NTL that they will base charges on amount of data transfered when every one has a 10Mb connection?

Re: whats happens once you go over the 3 gig limit
Well I got an email from ntl today saying they are goig to upgrade me at the end of October to 1MB with 3 GB cap. (Also it says I got the chance to opt out if I contact them.)
"should you ever reach your usage allowance we'll let you know and you will be given a number of options including changing to a different service with a higher usage allowance or choosing to use the service for the remainder of the month at a lower speed."
Does somebody know what this lower speed is ? as my average monthly usage is 5GB per month!
Regards.

Re: whats happens once you go over the 3 gig limit
HI, thanks, read that but it still didnt answer my question what my speed would be dropped to on the 1MB/3GB packaged ifI breached the cap.
Is it 300k ? 128k ? 64k ?
Regards.

I don't know what speed you'll be dropped to, pallys, but do you want to find out? ;-/
If you're moving up from 750Kb to 1Mb, you may find your usage increasing anyway. Do you think it might be worth going a bit further up to the 30GB cap of the 2Mb tier?
Anyway, if you go over the cap, they make you give all the extra data back... ;-)

Re: whats happens once you go over the 3 gig limit
I would like to find out what the dropped speed would be if going over the 3GB cap because if it drops from 1MB to 128K then I would swap from my unlimited 300k tier to this 1MB with 3GB cap tier. However if it drops as low as 64k then I woudnt.
NTL stated a dropped speed for going over a 3GB cap but failed to mentioned what it was...
