Thanks
Guys,as you know, the rest of the team & I will be ,unfortunatly, laid off from NTL on the 13th Sept.I have posted a few times & even had a rant or two!I like my job (if i did'nt,i would'nt post here or on NTL Hell) & in the 7 years with CableTel/NTL ,i have only 1 complaint against me out of ???? of jobs over the years.I have gone out of my way (as have the other In-House techs) to give the punter better service(like setting up B/Band / sorting out faults which we were'nt there to fix, ect)than the contractors will do.Now dont get me wrong! 80%of our contractors are brilliant but they still get hammered with the amount of jobs per day.We got less gobs per day so we could afford to spend that extra time with the punter. We are a victim of money. We are too expensive but in the end,it's the punter that suffers.Hopefully,i'll soon be in the Policen & my life will be recovering again (i went thru the same when i was laid off from the RAF due to Labours cutbacks)
Anyway, thanks for all your kind words & hopefully i'll stillbe able to offer words of wisdom!(lol)
Thanks again,
Spike

Re: Thanks
Good luck for the future, may all your hopes be exceeded.
NTL are being stupid to get rid of dedicated workers like yourself, but at the end of the day they only care about the shareholders.
Chin up and press on with your life.

Re: Thanks
I spent four years with ntl and went through redundancy twice. Eventually I just had enough and left of my own accord.
During the redeployment period, I remember applying for loads of internal jobs only to be told I 'lacked the skills required', but then to watch the job get given to a sixteen year old school leaver. This despite the fact the jobs I applied for were broadly similar to my own, though usually at a lower level!
The company does not want experienced, time served staff - they are a pain and costly to employ and manage. They want cheap inexperienced labour.

Jesus are NTL right in the head or what? NTL need workers like this who are good at their jobs, you sound like a dedicated worker which NTL can ill afford to lose. Good luck in what ever you do mate, if your anything like the installers round here you'll be sadly missed, the lads round here will do anything for you, I collerd one on the street last week and asked him if he'd put me a socket in my oldest lads room? He said yeah give me an hour I'll be up, he came up put the socket in checked if everything was ok I filled him with tea and sarnies I asked him how much he wanted? Nothing he said, I'm not having that so I gave him £10, he was pleased so was I. NTL need to keep people like you. Good luck mate
