NTL Pace STB's and Universal Remotes

My NTL Pace STB only "speaks" poorly to my One for All (pre-Kameleon) universal remote.
Does anybody know whether the new Kameleon range (or maybe, Logitech Harmony remotes) work better with Pace STB's?
Thanks

Re: NTL Pace STB's and Universal Remotes

Pace STBs generally use IrDA for the remote control signalling. Most standard remotes and appliances use IR. Anything you purchase for use with the Pace STB needs to transmit IrDA.

Actually there are only two Pace STBs (the 1000 and 2000) that use the IrDA-like TWTV remote protocol exclusively. The other Bromley Pace box (the 4000) can use either TWTV or regular RC5 remote commands, and all remaining boxes (4001 and 4010s used in Langley areas, and the Samsungs) use RC5 only.

hurstnicholas: can you tell us which STB model you have? To find out, either look on the bottom of the box, or press page up, page down, blue on the remote, and look for "hardware type" in the info that appears.

Re: NTL Pace STB's and Universal Remotes

Oh, and before Spiderplant corrects me

There's also a Pace 1000b STB used in Bromley areas which is different from the 1000 internally (more like the 2000, in fact) but still uses the TWTV remotes.

Another thing I forgot to mention is an easy way to tell which type of remote control you have. If it's blue then it uses standard RC5 remote controls, but if it's black/dark grey it uses the TWTV system.

Re: NTL Pace STB's and Universal Remotes

Hi

Thanks for your help.
I have a Pace 2000 box. This talks to just a v.few functions on my old one for all (i.e. change channels and info).
I am looking to buy a new remote and was looking a either the Kameleon One for All or the Logitech Harmony.
Thanks
