NTL Sky sports

Sorry if this is a groundhog day post but I've been through the forum and couldn't find the answers.

I've got a few Sky Sports on NTL questions:

1) The deals are a bit difficult to work out
e.g. what is the difference between these two packages apart from the price?
Sky Sports Collection
Includes Sky Sports 1, 2. Sky Sports 3 is a free bonus channel & Sky Sports Xtra is an additional service.
£20.00 per month

Sky Sports Collection
Includes Sky Sports 1 & 2 plus Sky Sports 3 is a free bonus channel & Sky Sports Xtra is an additional service.
£13.50 per month

2) Can you choose the premiership game that you want to see extended highlights of with NTL as you can with sky?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I think the £20.00 charge is if you have the base pack and the £13.50 is if you have the family pack.

Not yet. Ntl were supposedly working closely with Sky to bring red button events when they launched Sky Sports Extra 2 years ago. Since then its all gone a bit quiet.
I wouldn't hold your breath

Re: NTL Sky sports

Thanks for the cheery welcome. I feel at home already.

And thanks very much for the information. Looks like it'll be £20 for me then. Shame about the interactive problems as well. It's a big selling point of sky.

If I was on digital and wanting sky sports I would upgrade to family pack, you pay about £3 more total but get a lot for your money.

Not only that, try asking for the Sky Sports package free for a year. I'm currently on the family pack & after a call to retentions, was offered the Sky Sports pack free. Also, a friend of mine has just signed up for the family pack & again has been given Sky Sports free for a year.

Neither of us were 'new' customers - both have 1Mb BB + phone.

Re: NTL Sky sports

I reckon they've had a few after it. They wouldn't budge on Sky Sports free for a year - only the family pack half price for 6 months.

Re: NTL Sky sports

You have to ask who is subsidising the free Sky sports offer, NTL or Sky? Sky may do so in order that they have more NTL Sky Sports customers who spread the word that Sky Sports via cable isn't a patch on Sky Sports via satellite.

And by so doing, increase the number of subscribers that their biggest rival has, all of whom will be locked in for 12 months (by which time NTL could have a PVR, VOD nationwide, SS interactive...)?

It doesn't sound likely to me.

Me neither. I can't see Sky turning a blind eye to the normal costs for customers have Sky Sports if they are part of this offer. I'd imagine its coming straight from the budget for new customer aquisitions.

This offer not available to analogue customers, I will post more in my own thread.
