External to DVD R Loss of Colour

Hi all

I have have had real problems recording to my Panasonic DVDR from my NTL box and external VHS or DVD player. (Things I have recorded and want to back up this way)

It either records in Black and White or the colour is really grainy.

Any ideas

Thanks

Mike

Re: External to DVD R Loss of Colour

Sounds like you are sending or it is expecting a SVHS signal. Check the signal sent vs the settings recorders for the signal input.

No. SVHS signals are NEVER sent down the ariel cable. They are either sent through their own cable (with 4 pin mini-din plugs at each end) or through the scart cable.

Ok, the OP has not indicated how their setup is connected together.
I am unaware of any DVD Recorders that accept a aerial cable input, generally SCART or composite.

So OP - what cable are you using to connect the STB to the DVDR and VCR is it all through Aerial cable or are you using SCART cables anywhere in this?

Thanks I will try and explain better

I have a STB connected to the DVDR by a scart lead then to the TV by scart again

The TV Aerial goes the the VHS recorder than to the DVDR (by cable) and the VHS recorder is connect to the TV via a scart cable.

Hope this makes sense I may have to check when I get home !!!

Thanks

Mike

Re: External to DVD R Loss of Colour

Then I will stand behind what I said in Post 2, check the output / input signals on the devices.

Still having problems with this and I have checked the instruction books and it makes no reference to the above setting. Any ideas on how to check this ?

Many thanks

Mike
