Using Blueooth with HP IPAQ and HP Laptop

Hi

Wondred if someone had some advice on this problem...
Have a user at work (Director) who has a HP IPAQ and HP NC6000 laptop, both with bluetooth enabled. Laptop is ruuning Windows 2000 SP4.
Both devices can see each other and are paired. However when trying to use Active Sync (latest version from web), it cannot find the connection.
The problem being that the HP bluetooth software ('My Bluetooth Places') has decided that the device will use COM10, but Active Sync only searches up to COM9, USB and IR. She did use the USB connection before but due to amount of plugging and unplugging the connections aren't what they were, makes sense to make use of bluetooth, if I can get the blasted thing working.....!!!

Cannot seem to get the COM port changed to something lower than 10 (So AS will see it) or get AS to look at COM10

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Re: Using Blueooth with HP IPAQ and HP Laptop

Not an answer but I tried the same with my IPAQ 2210 (you don't say what model so cannot confirm the Bluetooth com port (mine is COM8)) and a NC4000 (basically same laptop but mine is a smaller model)

I could not get this working and after approx 10 minutes trying just decided to use the infrared connection which worked just fine.

Re: Using Blueooth with HP IPAQ and HP Laptop

have you tried this to change the COM ports:

go into device manager, then click ports (Com & LPT). Double click COM10, click the port settings tab then click the advanced button. here you can change the port number to any one you desire. Once you have done this OK out of the window, and when you are back in device manager click the "scan for hardware changes" button.

It worked for my SPVM1000 and activesync over bluetooth...
