Yakumo DVD XL2 Player Firmware upgrade
Ok, so I got your attention.
Can any of you guys speak German, I think.
I think I found an upgrade to the firmware for the above player, which I have had for over a year, and it is starting to die on me.
the link is here: http://www.yakumo.de/service/?pid=55...8&ag=21&back=1
also, how would I upgrade the firmware?

Re: Yakumo DVD XL2 Player Firmware upgrade
according to my hokey german reading skills, that firmware adds some kind of zoom functionality and the ability to read german subtitles...
and how to update:
Quote:
Please note that you update the firmware at your own risk. To update the firmware please follow the below instructions carefully.
1. The names of the update-files are xxxx.BIN.
2. Burn the files on a CD. As the file name is case sensitive please make sure to use capital letters in the file name.
3. Insert the CD into the DVD player. When the player has recognized the CD press "enter".
4. The update is uploaded to the DVD player. A message will appear on the screen and the drive of the DVD-player is opened. The message on the screen may not be clearly legible, which is not important for a correct upload. Please note that the update is not finished yet and will take at least one minute, then the drive will automatically be closed. While uploading make sure not to press any buttons or keys on the player or remote control.

Re: Yakumo DVD XL2 Player Firmware upgrade
oh well, thanks guys.
Looks like I will have to buy a new DVD player, if it only makes better german subtitles & adds a fade in/out.
the whole player is not recognising discs, turn it off and on a few times then it does.
Sometimes they play but it very blocky, but on another dvd player, in my wee bros room, it plays fine, so it is not the DVD disc.

Any chance the laser needs cleaning? Have you run a cleaning disc through it?
If you haven't got one it might be worth spending a few quid (cheaper than buying a new DVD player).

Re: Yakumo DVD XL2 Player Firmware upgrade
Not sure if it would be that.
when I turn it on, the main screen is all broken up, there is no disc needed to show that.

Have you tried a different scart lead? Or just reseating the one that you have?
I know it sounds daft but it's worth checking all these things before you start forking out loads on a new player.

Re: Yakumo DVD XL2 Player Firmware upgrade
right, player is gubbed,
so I am looking for a new DVD player. Multiregion a must.
I have £50-£60 to play with, what do you guys recommend?
I was thinking of another yakumo, but the last one only lasted 10 months.
