Personally I would always recommend shaving before you go to any formal do - It makes a better impression, and TBH women prefer clean shaven men, as then dont get a "Beard Rash".
I once asked a female friend why she didn't like unshaven men, and she said it was because she felt the beard was hiding something..

If you have the time and the cash, go to a barbers and get a "proper" shave - with hot towels and a "cut-throat" razor - I get one every so often, and it is the bet shave you can get, with the bonus of having an attractive women (if you are lucky) paying attention to you and making sure you don't have any stubble left over

That's a good idea, I might do that. After all its pointless having guys say "women like.." and "women don't like..", its your opinion at the end of the day that matters, and pictures would help that best.

I/you could submit them to hotornot and see how the scores compare.

I would say shave,

although it is a works do, you could pull someone who is not from your work, when you get to wherever you're going.

although the do may not be formal, you could make an effort to clean yourself up. I am not saying go in a suit but freshen your looks up and you will attract more people, hopefully

I shave every couple of days, and a AC&S everyone other weekend

...Not been on a first date since I was 17 but I always shave before posh dos and a night with hopeful sex! ....so I say shave it off my friend
