Re: Is this PC right for me?
Again only 256ddr, she needs at least 512mb DDR because PCworld will only fit the el cheapo boggo Ram.

This http://www.meshcomputers.com/updated/matrix_1_1.htm seems a nice offer but will push your budget a bit, although it has onboard the extra ram will help compensate that, unless you dump the tft and go for the upgraded visual card to improve performance.
My pc is from them and cost me £550 ( without monitor ) I have a 17inch crt here for sale though.

Re: Is this PC right for me?
Ok OK so I know every likes to have a dig at PC World. But they don't make Packard Bell machine's NEC do and they usually fit Hynix RAM in their machines, plus and extra 256Mb RAM would set you back less than £30. I personally would never consider buying a prebuilt machine.

Re: Is this PC right for me?
Nor would I there motherboards are rubbish and problematic, the cases rarely have enough cooling, there drives are cheap makes, they have awful crap installing restore disks.
There CS aftercare is a pile of poo, and to rub salt in the wound when you claim on warranty for anything its like getting a gorilla to cycle around the world.

Re: Is this PC right for me?
I meant from anywhere
Anyway, the Mesh one looks good, probably check out Evesham too and don't forget to check the delivery costs and add that to the total too. Oh and check the warranty to, is it on site or return to base?

Re: Is this PC right for me?

Cost: £0.10 time : 1minute

No way of knowing, the specification sheet says:
Quote:
802.11g Wireless Network Ready Not Specified
|
You will need to speak to someone in the store. I seriously doubt that it will be though.

Re: Is this PC right for me?
It doesnt specify it being Wireless ready.
To make it wireless compatible you would need to have a wireless adapter added in.
They could probably fit it for you so you dont loose your warranty.

Re: Is this PC right for me?
It is wireless 'compatible' but does not have any wireless device installed as standard. Want the full spec of the one too?

That machine is not wireless compatible as is, Michelle.
I think you will struggle to find one that is in the price range you're looking at. However, it's not that big a deal to make a machine wireless compatible. You can get a pci card that will make it compatible. Prices are about £20-30, but it will have to be fitted in the machine. Doing this is quite easy really.

Re: Is this PC right for me?
Doing so will not void your warranty with PC World either, provided the install is done correctly. Just follow the instructions. (Don't get the store to do it as 1. you can't get that machine in store and 2. they will charge you £29.99 to put it in for you).

That'll do fine. People here will tell you that's one of the best setups to go for.
