Transferring email address from Dialup account, to Broadband account?!?!
Hi All,
Wonder if anyone can help, as been given different answers from Blueyonder over this.
My future father in law has broadband connection in his house, which was used upstairs, while he had dialup downstairs. He now has a wireless setup, so can share the broadband to the users downstairs. He wanted to cancel the dialup service, but the email address he uses, it linked to the dialup account.
So is there a way to transfer the email address in question, to the broadband account, to allow him to cancel the dialup service, without losing emails and the email address?
Any help, very much appreciated.
Cheers

Is it the same ISP? i.e. is the last part of the address the same @blahblah or whatever? If so there "should" be no problem.

it seems blueyonder no longer offer a 'pay as you go' dialup option - from looking at the website, anyway, I'm happy to be wrong
- which is a pain, as that is the fallback with ntl - we recently converted our subscription dialup account to pay as you go, and we still keep the email addy for the account.

Hi,
But he doesn't want to have a Pay As You Go account, just wants to move the address over to his broadband account, so he can cancel the dialup account!

Re: Transferring email address from Dialup account, to Broadband account?!?!
Has he tried getting the PAYG e-mails from the broadband account? I would think it wouldn't hurt to try.

Hi,
Sorry but what does that have to do with the matter? like most if not all of pop3 accounts, you can access them on any ISP, PAYG or Broadband.
The point of this post, is the email address in question is tied to Dialup £12.99 a month account, but as he has wireless Broadband now, he doesn't need the Dialup and wants to cancel it, and transfer the email address from the Dialup account to the Broadband account, to KEEP the address.
Cheers

Re: Transferring email address from Dialup account, to Broadband account?!?!
Unless we have any helpful BY staff who post here from work then I'm afraid the only way to transfer the email account details from the dial-up to the BB account will be by getting back on the phone to CS and asking to speak to a supervisor/ team leader so that you can explain what you want to do and get the relevant answer. It should in theory be possible to transfer the account across ( I know it's been done by NTL CS) but it will depend greatly on what software BY use to manage their accounts.

Hi,
Cheers for all the replies.
I've done as you said, and don't get any further forward, team leader won't return call. And when asked for the Team Leader in question, he's not available!
Thanks anyway.
Cheers

It's at this point that we all realise that BY CS is just as fallible as NTLs. Are you contacting CS at the same time of day each time? If so can you try at a different time to see if you can get hold of someone that is willing to spend a couple of minutes tranfering the account details?

Hi,
Spoke to another CS Team Leader today, and they say it has nothing to do with CS and that i should be speaking to BY Tech Support! ARGH! and i have, but no hope there.
I think this may be one of those things that might just make him cancel his TW/BY service.
Cheers
