Upload - Download

Hey there,

I have been uploading to my site via ftp and before it used to around 4-5 kb/s upload speed and i could continue browsing the internet.

However when i upload know its at 10 kb/s and my whole connection slows down an i cannot browse the internet.

As my website develops i am uploading larger files more often and i am getting annoyed?

What is causing this and is there a solution?

I am on 1mb

Also, before you blame ntl its the nature of how TCP/IP works.

- what ftp prog are you using to upload?

I am using fireftp, at the moment, but that doesn't seem to offer a throttle option, either

Re: Upload - Download

Yeah, check for an option on your ftp client like homealone suggested. Failing that, you can try a bandwidth limiting tool...netlimiter, dumeter to name two.

Fiddle around and find the best compromise; i've found 80% to be a good amount to limit your upload to

Re: Upload - Download

if you use netlimiter you can make the uploads go any speed you want in the ftp very handy
