IN win XP start menu > accessories > command prompt
type ping 192.168.2.1 (I beleive that's the IP of your router)
Tell us the result

Ok those are normal IP adresses if you have a router in the way.

True, but slightly odd they are so far apart.
Still not posted ipconfig /all info from the non-connecting PC. Is the LAN connection on the non-connecting PC set to 'obtain IP address automatically' AND 'obtain DNS server address automatically'?
Try opening a command prompt and typeing
nslookup www.microsoft.com
(without the underlines LOL)
What do you get?

Re: Connection problems
OK, looks like the network connection is there so it's the internet setup on the PC that must be at fault.

Re: Connection problems
To try and setup the network - internet service lets first make sure you don't have any existing connectors.
Again open "My Computer",
from the rioght hand menus select "my network places"
select "view network connections."
If there are any connectors in there like "broadband", "dial up," delete them.
Now select "create new connection"
follow the wizard options:
connection type - internet
manual setup
connect using broadband setup that is always on
let the wizard complete then reboot the PC

You can ignore that error, but do you get the rest, as below?

*** Default servers are not available

At least that establishes that your DNS settings are OK.
