Remote Control for Samsung STB

Hi
I've currently got a second TV coax wired in room 2 pumping out of the RF output on the Samsung

I've looked at video senders - they seem to say the video will work/send but they won't transmit the NTL/Telewest Infra Red remote control signals (why not ?????? )

is there a way round this ?

how can I get the Samsung to change channels from room 2 ?

thanks 4 any advice

RJ

May be wrong, but I thought the problem was only with the Pace boxes, which used a non-standard IR signal.

Re: Remote Control for Samsung STB

I can confirm the standard Digisender 2 works with the Samsung STB straight out of the box, no need for Red Eye or anything extra.

Although this may be overkill if you have the picture/audio as a cable feed already.

I would expect any IR extenders that are comercially available to work with the Samsung as it uses standard signals unlike the older Pace units. Try anything available from Argos on a 14-day return.

Hi

looked into the DigiEye

http://www.letsautomate.com/10850.cfm

says "note that neither the DigiEye nor the DigiSender will currently work with the new silver Samsung boxes from NTL/Telewest "

er . . . . . this new Samsung STB looks like a not so good deal ?

Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks Greebox !

Are you saying that the Digisender 2 works to send both Video and Remote Control signals to the Samsung STB ?

Yes I have had it running to my PC WinTV USB PVR, the only thing you need to be aware of is that it has only available 4 wireless channels and you may get conflicts with either Dect Phones or Wireless PC network because they all work on 2.4 GHz

The DigiEye does work with the Samsung box, but it's more sensitive to receiver positioning than with Pace boxes. You'd have to experiment a bit to get the best performance.

Someone on one of the forums suggested it helped if you didn't point the remote directly at the DigiEye.

Greebox's Argos 14-day suggestion is a good one.

Re: Remote Control for Samsung STB

Samsungs use standard RC5 IR and so should work with any sender.
