Toshiba Satellite Hard Drive Question?

Hi All!!!
How the hell do i get a Toshiba Satellite1110 hard disk out and if i can, Is it connected by a standard 40 pin ide connector and 4 pin molex power plug?
Maybe a question for dilligaf1701 this one! thanks for any help anyone can give me on this.
A mate of mine cannot boot into his windows xp partition since his son dropped his lappy( Bless Him) so i thought i`d take his Hard drive out and get his stuff off onto my pc for him.

Re: Toshiba Satellite Hard Drive Question?

I've got a dell not a toshiba laptop sorry.

If it's a standard laptop then it'll have a mini ide connector and no molex power connector (as it draws power directly through the interface)

Your best bet would be to get a cheapo external hard drive case and put it in that.

edit - a quick google has the following suggestion for the 1110....

'Had the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite 1135-S155.

Takes only one screw. The one that holds the CD/DVD drive. Pull (slide)out the drive and the hard drive is there.

The hard drive is held in by 6 screws. You will see them. Don't take the entire case apart, no need. '

edit - I just had a look through the manual which wasn't much help - sorry

Re: Toshiba Satellite Hard Drive Question?

I replaced the HDD on my Toshiba S2450-201. There was a single screw on the bottom which held closed a hatch, underneath was a Hard Drive bracket, again, screwed on by one screw. I undid the screws and parted the Hard Drive bracket containing the HDD of course away from the connection. Laptop HDDs are special 2.5" sized HDDs with 44 pins which carry power and data, it was just a case of parting the hdd away from the connector on the motherboard, removing the HDD from the bracket, removing the HDD from the plastic anti-static wallet it was in, slipping the new drive in, re-attaching the bracket into the laptop, screwing it in and the hatch on and installing Windows.

I bought my new HDD from www.scan.co.uk it was a 40gb Hitachi Travelstar, any make will do usually.
