Laptop sound too low... even through speakers..
Hiya
I've been playing some DVD clips and other stuff off the Internet to my classes (I'm a teacher), but the sound is far too low... even when I put the volume on to maximum on both Power DVD and Volume Control. Is it because the speakers I'm using are a bit crap (they are old Tiny ones)? If so, can you recommend a good (cheap) pair that I can use with my laptop that will have louder volume? Cos this is a pain in the bum!
Cheers
Simon

Yeah most laptop speakers aren't designed to be loud enough to hear throughout a classroom. I would say any cheap powered speakers would do though.

What laptop are you using in school Smicer?
Somcething like this would probably be better than the laptop speakers.

Are you using it with the interactive white board
all our interactive white boards have been fitted with another set of speakers which are load enough as long as the class sit and listen in silence but above classroom chatter seem too low.

I would ask the school if they would purchase them since they would no doubt be able to make good use of them. A set for around £20 would probably do the job but you may need to go to PC World etc to listen to the volume of certain speakers.

Is it the schools' laptop? If so I would expect them to fund the purchase if not then I would point out that external speakers come in very handy for different tasks

Aside from the other suggestions here - have you boosted the sound in powerDVD?
p.s. I think a set of speakers would be the best way to go.

I would suggest all the teachers talk to whoever is in charge of the media equipment and ask for a decent set of speakers to use as it is down to them to fulfill your needs as much as possible within reason.

Might just buy some though- getting things bought is a rigourous and painstaking task!
