It shows up in My computer. My copy of Nero is 5.5.9 so it should be fine.

Hmmm any other ideas?

Also you may need to install ASPI drivers. The attached RAR file has all you need in it - ASPICheck should tell you if they are installed.

you need nero 6.3 I would say, nero 5 most likely is to old to recognise the drive

Re: new dvd Burner...what am I doing wrong?

When you open it up and there is that "new" screen, in the top left hand corner there is a pull down box that says CD.

Pull it down & hey presto is says DVD!

That had me for a while too.

Think your copy of Nero is too old to support the drive.

Re: new dvd Burner...what am I doing wrong?

As has been said Nero 5 doesn't recognise many DVD writers.

You could try this demo of Nero 6

Before that, you might also try rebooting your PC. I had similar problem recently. Fitted the drive, started up the PC and installed Nero - wouldn't work. Worked fine after rebooting.

Re: new dvd Burner...what am I doing wrong?

It was in fact my old version of Nero that was the problem. I find it odd though as it was like one incriment down from 6.

Anyway, just gaving a wee test run and am sure i will ask lots more questions in teh next dew days!
