Unhappy sky digi to tv card sound problem

i can get audio and picture fine when i am watching it , the problem i have is when i record and then try and play back , the sound is distorted as if the input signal is too high , no amount of fiddling seems to cure it , i tried turning the digi box sound down as far as it goes and it helped albeit slightly , this has got me right stumped

Re: sky digi to tv card sound problem

hi Paul

have you checked the properties for recording in your volume control??

I just had a look & a recent install of xp had defaulted to microphone selected for the source, not line in (or whatever your card is set for)???

edit - what I mean is, the volume may be set too high there, whichever device is chosen

tried lowering the volume setting there?

my ati card doesn't like a record volume setting much over 50%, for line in, or it distorts..

you could try running the config routine, again - on mine, during the setup, I can hear the sound on the chosen input, when it is right & I seem to remember a level meter - iirc....
