Leaving NTL disconnected for 2 months then reconnecting
Here's the situation.
I'm at Uni in a student house, contract runs out in June but comes back in September - same house. Have to vacate over the summer. Now I want to carry on with my NTL subscription, but I fear getting them to cancel it for 2 months then turn it back on might be a bit difficult, so I'm just thinking of unplugging the modem, taking that away with me, then bringing it back in September, plugging it back in and just carry on when I left off. The 2 months gap is ok because they gave me a student deal - 2 months free.
So will I be ok to do this? ie. will it reconnect ok without spazzing out/causing me mega grief? Will they delete my account if they see a 3 month period of inactivity (Mid June to Mid Sep)??
Question 2: Will I be able to get another 2 months off or can I just end my contract in June 2006 - do I have to let them know in advance?
Re: Leaving NTL disconnected for 2 months then reconnecting
I was wondering the very same thing..
although im not sure unplugging your modem will stop them charging you for 2 months usage .
Just thinking about calling up to suspend the service...possible?? or do i have to cancel/re-apply & go through the whole 2 month wait in spetember when they're 'having a rush'.
btw, i will be in the same house with the same billing details etc.
Re: Leaving NTL disconnected for 2 months then reconnecting
Nah I don't expect they won't charge me because I am unplugging, those 2 months are free due to the 10 month deal (although I had Sept/Oct free but it works out the same), my main concern is if whether they'll disconnect me when they see there's been no usage for 3 months.

failing that could you not cancel the account now and just look out for those anoying sales men at them stands anywere and everywere and sign up to a new student deal (maybee under soomeone elses name in the house to avoide confusion)

could you not just leave the modem connected in the corner and put a do not touch sticker on it or something like that i think you are temping fate askin ntl to disconnect for two months that might be TOOO comlicated for the workforce they employ now going back 18mths i would have said go ahead
Re: Leaving NTL disconnected for 2 months then reconnecting
i work in faults so i'm not competely sure, but i'm a student myslef and i have had friends suspend their accounts whilst others have had to cancel, don't quote me on this but as with experience of my friends it seems to depend on who you speak to in customer services at the time, whether there is a policy on this i don't know, call in tomorrow but i'll try and find out for you when i'm in tomorrow
