Pace STB locking up

my Pace DI4010 keeps on crashing, i.e. locking onto one channel and I am unable to change to another. This happens 3 or 4 times a week and I have to power it down. Will NTL trust me and just replace or will they need to send somebody around to live with me for a week to see it happen.

Re: Pace STB locking up

There are so many issues with Pace boxes these days it seems. I suppose some of them are getting a bit long in the tooth. At lot of the problems are intermittent and hence diffcult to reproduce when asked. However, a mate of mine who complained to NTL about all sorts of wierdness on his Pace Di4001 unit told me that they replaced his with a Samsung straight away, no questions asked by the engineer.
Mind you, I wouldn't doubt that the opposite might happen, i.e. the engineer won't do anything for you if you can't reproduce the fault and his limited tests show the box/connection as working OK.

Re: Pace STB locking up

Sorry,Flubflow, but as a tech,i disagree with your last statment.
First thing i do is get the fault history BEFORE i go to the job.I then check the connections at the cab/etb/iso ect.
I then check the levels useing my meter, equalising or attenuating the levels if needed.I check the bottom of the box,if there is a sticker there with signatures on means it's a 'repaired' ex- faulty box(and 80% are still b*****!!!)
I check the screens on the stb & change it(rather that than a repeat fault!figures, you know?)
If there is a problem with the levels & i cant fix it,i pass it on for a repull & advise the sub what the next step is.
That is how i do my job.6 years & only one complaint from a compensation seeking **** cant be bad!

Re: Pace STB locking up

What do you do if all your tests show OK and the box appears to be working fine at the time of your call? Do you take his word that he is genuinely having problems and still give him a replacement box? I'm not being funny BTW, I'm just asking.

Whilst you're here, do you have any idea what "er20" means (on the Di4001n STB LED display after you've tried to reboot)? I've seen it a couple of times and I'm worried the box is about to die.
