Recovering Outlook stuff

My Dad's HDD is failing quite rapidly so I got a new HDD and installed everything including MS outlook XP and now I'd like to retrieve Outlook XP files and emails from the old hdd. It is on this system as a slave as it don't boot into it no more and where should I be looking ?

Cheers

Re: Recovering Outlook stuff

For your emails, search for *.dbx, check that it will search hidden and system folders in the search options.

If you come across an error, which i can't exactly remember, you can still recover the emails from inside the *.dbx with OE-Mail recovery.

Re: Recovering Outlook stuff

okey dokey I'll look for the .dbx files. 8.pst files weren't found. Cheers for the suggestion.

Nope nothing ? I am not to worry since his contacts which are most important have been backed up to a cd.

Re: Recovering Outlook stuff

I am having a similar problem (although it is only my wife who uses lookout .

I think the only way to do this is to boot off of the old drive, export the files, then boot off the new drive and import them.

If anyone finds a better way - let me know (I have also searched for .pst and.dbx files etc)

Re: Recovering Outlook stuff

Outlook by default creates outlook.pst in the Documents and Settings folder .... make sure that your search criteria will search all system and hidden directories (check the options).
