Re: Building my own PC

Lets talk about rounded cables.............
The HDD's don't need them 'cos I'm using the sata cables. I'll get one for the floppy drive..........do I need any others?

Re: Building my own PC

Yes, for the DVDRW, CD Drive, or any other optical drive.

Get rid of those nasty grey/black ribbon cables for good.

You can get some here

Re: Building my own PC

I am trying to figure out where on the mobo to plug the cables that come from the front of my case. I know what set of pins to plug them into, just not which pins for which plug. The mobo guide is b*gger all help as the terms it uses don't match what's written on the teeny, tiny s*dding plugs.

Re: Building my own PC

if you look near where you plugged the regular power switch etc there should be a yellow(normally) usb header 9 pins 1 row of 4 1 of 5 normally they run power - + ground in that order the ground near the end with the spare pin.As far as audio i wouldnt use them and if theres firewire you need a header for this too these should be highlighted in your manual

Im not sure but looking at the pic of your mobo some of these headers are not present with a bit of luck you should be ok lol

edit the usb header appears to be next to your first pci slot thats if you went with the asus and there blue lol lol

The other wires all ie switches ide active and power led are all 2 core plus minus normally asus boards are marked and the +pin so you cant go wrong if you use a magnifying glass or squint lol you will see the board is marked as to what goes where lol lol

Re: Building my own PC

there should be something with the case either a little speaker that sits on the 4 pins above the reset pins or one in the bottom of the case that should have its own lead the post error reporting is only for if you have a problem hopefully you wont have any worries

Rammy, your not going to be using the onboard sound, so you wont connect them to your mobo, if anywhere they will connect to your SB Audigy2
